BATHROOMS

Bathroom make-overs require not just clarity and vision but the ability to apply numerous trades from plumbing, carpentry, electrics to tiling and decorating. A Project that Lemontrade welcomes since it really requires true collaboration with our clients from Design to the first flush!

ENSUITE BATHROOM

Originally a walk in wardrobe we were commissioned to undertake the build of an ensuite bathroom. Working with BuildingControl the wardrobe was converted to enhance the master bedroom with a modern, fresh ensuite.
One of the biggest challenges was to plumb and square three walls to fit Cement Boards to ensure a waterproof enclosure and flat surfaces to fix Aqua-panel shower walls.

FAMILY BATHROOM REFIT

An amazing commission where Lemontrade was entrusted to advise on all aspects of the project from look & feel and colour co-ordination through to the full rebuild which included fixing a number of unexpected 'issues'. A Luxury Vinyl Floor took the rebuild to a new level providing both a waterproof and highly practicable bathroom floor as well as a stunning grey oak boarding effect.

BATHROOM UPGRADE

An in progress project! Lemontrade was asked to come up with a revised design for the bathroom that included adding a shower and hand basin to the current room. To achieve this brief we had to reverse the swing of the door and much much more.......

IMG_20180328_105017.jpg

INITIAL BATHROOM

Room only has a toilet and bath. We need to replace plus add a shower and basin.

IMG_20180326_171009.jpg

CUSTOM DOOR

To free up wall space for a basin to be fitted a new custom size door was built and then hung to open outwards.

IMG_20180407_171053.jpg

STUDWORK WALL

The end wall of bathroom was made of lathe and plaster. To provide a stable and strong wall for the shower & tiles a stud wall was built.

IMG_20180407_171104.jpg

PEV

Pipework for the shower, bath & basin installed. A Pressure Equalising Valve has been added to manage the hot & cold pressure differential.

IMG_20180410_171642.jpg

TILING STARTS

Cement board joints taped and skimmed, tiling commences! Keeping all straight by using a laser level (see the laser red lines).

IMG_20180413_105826.jpg

GROUTING

Not a severe case of mould, just part way through grouting.

IMG_20180420_102852[1].jpg

NEW BASIN

Reversing the swing of door freed up the wall space for hand basin.

IMG_20180420_102833[1].jpg

CLOSE COUPLED TOILET

The new stud work wall allowed a close coupled toilet to be fitted without major alterations to floor soil pipe.

OVER BATH SHOWER

Adding the PEV has resolved the water pressures, saved a lot of upheaval and made a thermostatic shower possible.

REPAIR RATES

Bathroom refit tasks generally are more demanding and call for greater skills. The charge for Bathroom refit work will be calculated at £26 per hour.

DESIGN TIP

Lay floorboards parallel to the longest wall of room to capitalise on making the room appear larger. Always lay floor tiles 'brick' style to avoid adjacent tile runs having all cross joints at same point. The slightest offset will create a wiggly line.
